The Complete Guide to Keywordz
Everything you need to know about using Keywordz to build your SEO strategy, find customers on Reddit, track rankings, and grow organic traffic. This guide covers every feature, when to use it, and how to get the most value from the platform.
Platform Overview
What Keywordz is and how it fits into your marketing stack.
Keywordz is an AI-native SEO strategy platform designed for SaaS founders, small businesses, indie hackers, and marketing agencies who need actionable intelligence without enterprise pricing.
Unlike traditional SEO tools that dump raw data and leave you to interpret it, Keywordz deploys specialized AI agents that analyze your market, discover keyword opportunities, scan communities, and synthesize everything into a prioritized action plan. The result is a complete 90-day SEO strategy — not a spreadsheet of keywords.
Who is Keywordz for?
SaaS Founders & Indie Hackers
You're building a product and need to know which keywords to target, what content to create, and where your potential customers hang out online. Keywordz gives you this in one analysis, in 2 minutes, for free.
Small Business Owners
You can't afford Semrush ($140/mo) or Ahrefs ($129/mo) but still need SEO intelligence. Keywordz gives you keyword research, position tracking, site audits, and AI strategy reports starting at $19.99/mo.
Content Teams & Agencies
Generate client strategies in minutes instead of hours. The Strategy Engine produces client-ready reports with opportunity scores, content calendars, and prioritized quick wins. Export as PDF for presentations.
Core philosophy
Traditional SEO tools give you data. Keywordz gives you decisions. Every feature is designed to answer "what should I do next?" — not just "here are 10,000 keywords."
Strategy Engine
Your AI-powered SEO strategist. Describe your product, get a complete market intelligence report.
The Strategy Engine is the core product of Keywordz. It's the only tool on the market that generates a complete SEO strategy from a single product description.
How it works
You describe your product in plain language — what it does, who it's for, what problem it solves. The engine then deploys 4 specialized AI agents (6 on Pro) that work in parallel:
1. Market Discovery Agent
Discovers keywords through Google Autocomplete, Serper related searches, and DataForSEO. Enriches each keyword with search volume, CPC, competition, and intent classification. Produces a market sizing analysis with total addressable search volume.
2. Community Intelligence Agent
Scans Reddit for relevant subreddits and active discussion threads. Identifies opportunity threads where people are asking for recommendations, complaining about competitors, or discussing your market. Generates engagement strategies per subreddit.
3. Technical Audit Agent (if URL provided)
Crawls your website (up to 15 pages on free, 200 on Pro), checks for SEO issues (missing meta descriptions, broken links, slow pages), measures Core Web Vitals via PageSpeed API, and generates prioritized fix recommendations.
4. Content Strategy Agent
Groups your keywords into content pillars (topic clusters), suggests content types (blog posts, guides, videos, landing pages), and generates a 12-week content calendar with specific topics, target keywords, and publishing cadence.
5. Competitor Intelligence Agent (Pro only)
Identifies your top competitors by domain, analyzes their organic traffic, ranked keywords, and backlink profiles. Generates competitive scorecards and keyword gap analysis showing opportunities they rank for that you don't.
6. AI Synthesis
Combines all agent outputs into an executive summary with an Opportunity Score (0-100), a 90-day action plan broken into 3 phases, risk assessment, competitive positioning statement, and 3 prioritized quick wins you can act on today.
The Opportunity Score
A proprietary 0-100 score that estimates how much untapped search demand exists for your product. Above 70 is strong — there's significant keyword volume with manageable competition. Below 40 means the market is either saturated or too niche. The score factors in total search volume, competition levels, keyword difficulty distribution, and commercial intent ratio.
Tip: Run the engine with different product descriptions to test different market angles. You get 3 free runs — use them to compare "project management for freelancers" vs "invoicing tool for agencies" and see which has a higher opportunity score.
Quick Wins
Every strategy report includes 3 AI-prioritized quick wins — actions ranked by impact-to-effort ratio. P1 actions are high-impact, low-effort (e.g., "add meta descriptions to your 3 highest-traffic blog pages"). Start here. Quick wins are specific to your product and market, not generic advice.
Keyword Research
Find the right keywords to target with volume, difficulty, CPC, and intent data.
The Keyword Explorer lets you research individual keywords or expand from seed terms. Unlike the Strategy Engine (which gives you a curated list of opportunity keywords), the Explorer is for manual research and deep dives.
How to use it
Enter a seed keyword (e.g., "project management software"), select your target location and language, and search. The explorer returns related keywords from Google Autocomplete. Enable "A-Z Expand" to run 26 autocomplete queries (one per letter) for much broader discovery.
Data per keyword
Search Volume
Monthly average searches from DataForSEO (which aggregates Google Ads data). Represents how many people search for this keyword per month in your target location.
Keyword Difficulty (KD)
A 0-100 score calculated from actual SERP competition analysis. We fetch the top 20 Google results for each keyword and score based on domain authority, .gov/.edu presence, and competitive density. Easy (0-30), Medium (30-60), Hard (60+).
CPC (Cost Per Click)
The average Google Ads cost per click, indicating commercial value. High CPC ($5+) means advertisers pay a lot for this keyword — it has strong buyer intent. Useful for prioritizing keywords that drive revenue, not just traffic.
Intent Classification
Each keyword is classified as Informational (learning), Commercial (researching options), Transactional (ready to buy), or Navigational (looking for a specific site). Target Commercial and Transactional keywords first — they convert.
Tip: Use the filters to find low-difficulty, high-volume keywords with commercial intent. Sort by volume, filter KD below 40, and look for keywords with "best", "review", or "alternative" — these are high-intent keywords where you can rank faster.
Saving keywords
Select keywords with the checkboxes and add them to any project keyword list. Lists track your target keywords across the platform — they feed into position tracking, content planning, and strategy reports.
Position Tracking
Monitor your Google rankings daily and get alerts when positions change.
Position tracking lets you monitor where your website ranks for specific keywords in Google. Create a campaign with your domain and target keywords, set a schedule, and Keywordz checks your positions automatically.
Setting up a campaign
Go to Position Tracking, click "New Campaign", enter your domain and keywords (one per line). Choose a check schedule: daily, every 3 days, or weekly. Set an alert email to get notified of significant position changes.
What you see
Position History Chart
A line chart showing your average position over time. Click individual keywords to filter the chart to just those keywords. Useful for spotting trends after content changes or link building.
Visibility Score
A CTR-weighted score (0-100%) that estimates your share of clicks for tracked keywords. Position 1 gets ~30% of clicks, position 2 gets ~15%, etc. Track visibility instead of individual positions to see overall progress.
Position Alerts
Get email notifications when keywords move more than your threshold (default: 3 positions). Custom alert rules let you track: drops, rises, entering/exiting the top 10, or entering the top 3.
Win Notifications
When any of your keywords enters the top 3 positions, you'll receive a celebratory email with the keyword, new position, and improvement amount.
Tip: Positions are checked using Serper's SERP API (Google search results). Data is for desktop searches in your selected location. Use the "Check Now" button to trigger an immediate position check instead of waiting for the next scheduled run.
Reddit Monitor
Find customers where they're already looking. Daily AI-scored Reddit opportunities delivered to your inbox.
The Reddit Monitor is Keywordz's most unique feature — no competitor offers it. It automatically scans Reddit for threads where people are asking for tools, complaining about competitors, comparing options, or discussing topics related to your product.
How it works
During onboarding, a Reddit monitor is automatically created with keywords from your strategy analysis. You can also create monitors manually with custom keywords and subreddit filters.
Every day, the monitor:
- Searches Reddit for posts matching your keywords (last 2 days)
- AI-scores each post for relevance (0-100) to your specific product
- Classifies posts: Tool Request, Competitor Complaint, Tool Comparison, or Discussion
- Generates a "Suggested Angle" for each high-relevance post — coaching you on what to emphasize in your reply
- Sends you a daily email digest with the top opportunities
The daily digest email
The email splits opportunities into two tiers: High Priority (score 85+, full cards with suggested angles) and Worth Engaging (score 60-84, compact list). It also shows active threads you've previously replied to, with new comment counts and upvote changes.
Tip: The highest-value threads are "Tool Requests" (someone asking "what SEO tool should I use?") and "Competitor Complaints" (someone frustrated with a competitor). Reply authentically — share genuine insights first, then mention your product naturally as one option. The AI-generated "Suggested Angle" coaches you on this approach.
Active thread tracking
When you mark a thread as "replied" in the dashboard, the monitor tracks it for 14 days — showing you new comments, upvote changes, and replies to your comment. This creates a feedback loop: post → track → iterate.
Intelligence Modules
8 specialized analysis tools for deep-dive research beyond the strategy report.
Beyond the Strategy Engine, Keywordz offers 8 intelligence modules for targeted analysis. Each module runs as an independent AI pipeline with its own set of data sources and outputs.
Gap Finder
Enter your domain and up to 5 competitor domains. The Gap Finder identifies keywords your competitors rank for that you don't — your "content gaps." Prioritized by search volume and difficulty so you know which gaps to fill first.
Market Scanner
Validates a business idea before you build it. Enter a product description, target market, and business model. Returns market size estimates, competition level, entry barriers, and a recommended go-to-market strategy.
Reddit Lead Finder
A one-time deep scan of Reddit for your product. Unlike the monitor (which runs daily), this runs once and returns a comprehensive report of relevant threads, subreddits, and engagement opportunities. Includes draft replies and content ideas.
On-Page Checker
Analyzes a single page against a target keyword. Checks title tag, meta description, heading structure, content length, keyword density, internal links, image alt text, and schema markup. Returns a page-level SEO score with specific fix recommendations.
Content Gap Analysis
Compares your content against top-ranking pages for a target keyword. Identifies topics, questions, and subtopics that ranking pages cover but yours doesn't. Use this before writing or updating a blog post to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Backlink Audit
Fetches your backlink profile from DataForSEO, scores each link for toxicity (spam patterns, low authority, UGC platforms), and generates a disavow file for links that could hurt your rankings. Includes AI analysis with remediation recommendations.
Link Building
Identifies link building opportunities by analyzing where your competitors get their backlinks. Finds domains that link to multiple competitors but not to you — these are high-probability link prospects.
Strategy Builder
A lighter version of the Strategy Engine focused on content strategy. Takes a keyword list and generates content pillars, topic clusters, and a publishing calendar without the full market analysis.
Site Audit
Crawl your website, find SEO issues, measure Core Web Vitals, and get AI fix priorities.
The Site Audit crawls your website page by page, checking for technical SEO issues that could hurt your rankings. It produces a Health Score (0-100) and prioritized recommendations.
What it checks
The crawler analyzes: missing or duplicate meta descriptions, broken links, missing alt text, heading structure issues (multiple H1 tags), slow-loading resources, missing schema markup, sitemap errors, and more. Each issue is categorized by severity (Error, Warning, Info) and by category (Meta Tags, Performance, Images, Links, etc.).
Core Web Vitals
The audit measures Google's Core Web Vitals using the PageSpeed API: LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift), TBT (Total Blocking Time), and FCP (First Contentful Paint). Each metric is graded against Google's published thresholds — Good, Needs Improvement, or Poor.
AI Recommendations
The most valuable part: AI-prioritized fix recommendations ranked by business impact. P1 recommendations target your highest-traffic pages with the biggest issues. P2 and P3 address lower-priority items. This is unique to Keywordz — no competitor includes AI-prioritized recommendations in their audit reports.
Tip: Schedule recurring audits (daily, weekly, or monthly) to track your health score over time. The audit history chart shows whether your fixes are improving site health.
Domain Overview
See any domain's organic traffic, keywords, backlinks, and competitive position at a glance.
Enter any domain to see its SEO profile: estimated organic traffic, number of ranked keywords, backlink count, and domain rank. The overview also shows ranked keywords (with positions, volumes, and intent) and top pages by estimated traffic.
Backlink Analytics
Click "View backlinks" to access full backlink data: total backlinks, referring domains, dofollow/nofollow split, top anchor texts, and individual backlink details with source domain, anchor, and page rank. Data comes from DataForSEO's backlink index.
Tip: Use Domain Overview on competitor domains before running a Strategy Engine analysis. It gives you context on how strong your competitors are — which informs how aggressive your content strategy needs to be.
Blog Generator
AI-written blog posts optimized for your target keywords.
Enter a target keyword, optional angle/focus, and desired word count (1,500-3,000 words). The generator analyzes top-ranking content for that keyword, then produces a publication-ready draft with proper heading structure, keyword placement, and SEO optimization.
The generated content is a strong first draft — not a final article. Edit it to add your unique perspective, examples, and brand voice. Use it to accelerate content production, not replace human writing entirely.
Tip: Pair the Blog Generator with your Strategy Engine content calendar. The calendar tells you what topics to write about and which keywords to target. The generator produces the first draft. Your job is to add the human touch.

Data Sources
Where our data comes from and how accurate it is.
Transparency about data sources matters. Here's exactly where Keywordz gets its data:
Keyword Volume & CPC
DataForSEO, which aggregates Google Ads Keyword Planner data. Volumes are monthly averages over 12 months. CPC values represent the average cost per click for advertisers bidding on that keyword. Updated monthly.
Keyword Difficulty
Calculated in-house from live SERP analysis. We fetch the top 20 Google results for each keyword via Serper and score competition based on domain authority patterns, .gov/.edu presence, and competitive density. Recalculated per query.
Position Tracking
Serper SERP API — real-time Google search results for desktop in your target location. Positions are checked against the top 20 results. If your domain doesn't appear in the top 20, the position is recorded as null.
Backlink Data
DataForSEO backlink index. Includes total backlinks, referring domains, dofollow/nofollow split, anchor text distribution, and individual link details with page rank scores. Cached for 7 days per domain.
Reddit Data
Serper's Reddit search API for thread discovery, plus the Reddit JSON API for thread content and comments. AI scoring and classification via OpenAI GPT-4o.
AI Analysis
OpenAI GPT-4o for market analysis, content strategy generation, community engagement tips, draft replies, and executive synthesis. All AI outputs are grounded in real data from the sources above — not hallucinated.
Privacy & Security
How we handle your data.
Your strategy analyses, keyword lists, and reports are private to your account. We don't share, sell, or use your data for training AI models. All connections are encrypted via HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt.
Data is stored on Neon PostgreSQL (SOC 2 certified infrastructure). Backups are automated. You can request full data deletion by contacting support.
